Why Whitehead Should Pick Indiana
NYC prospect Isaiah Whitehead made a surprising announcement via twitter that he would be announcing his college decision Thursday at 2:30pm. Whitehead has established himself as one of the top guards in the nation through his sensational play throughout the recent AAU season. Whitehead tweeted that he is down to St. Johns, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Indiana. The final list does not include Syracuse, which for months was seen as the school the beat in his recruitment.
Out of the five schools Indiana seems like the ideal fit for Whitehead, because he could flourish under the coaching of Tom Crean. Whitehead fits the mold of the two most recent lottery picks that played under Crean, three time NBA champion Dwayne Wade and the #2 pick in the 2013 draft Victor Oladipo. Whitehead’s game is similar to both Wade and Oladipo’s. All three are listed at 6-4 with the ability to score, facilitate the offense and are tenacious defenders.
Indiana has established themselves as one of the top schools in the nation and they continue to bring in the top talent as well, which is always appealing to new recruits.
