Prince George (VA) Retires Jersey of All-Time Leading Scorer Malik Carter

On February 2,  Prince George retired the #11 jersey of former Royal Malik Carter. A 2005 graduate, Carter scored a record-setting 1,359 points in his three years playing for the Royals. He also led them to their first ever District Championship. Unfortunately, Carter was not in attendance to witness the ceremony. Carter was tragically murdered in his native Philadelphia during the summer of 2014. His family was on hand to receive the jersey in his honor.


Personally, we’ve never met Malik but judging from the outpouring support from the Prince George family, we can tell he was a special being. Another person who’s kept his name alive is his cousin, rapper Dave East. If you listen to his music you will hear Malik’s name or his aka “Freaky” often. East, a former ball player himself, specifically dedicated “I’ll Do Anything” off of his mixtape “Hate Me Now” to his late cousin:
