Duke also struck more gold when 6’9 Virginia native Javin DeLaurier(St. Anne’s Belfield) announced that he would be a Blue Devil making heir already number one ranked class that much stronger. Both Robinson’s and DeLaurier’s commitments mark the fifth and sixth high school basketball recruits rated in the top 100 to land on Tobacco Road between UNC, Duke, and NC State.
There is still plenty of time for these programs to continue to gather recruits for their 2016 classes. NC State has a big weekend with Rawle Alkins, Udoka Azubuike, and Edrice Adebayo all to make an appearance on campus. While Duke is still in hot pursuit of the number one player in the country, Harry Giles as well as big Marques Bolden and Wenyen Gabriel. Brandon Robinson 6’5 SG Douglass Co. HS(GA) Committed to UNC
Roy Williams and assistant Hubert Davis took a trip to Georgia to sit in on current Cal freshman Jaylen Brown when they fell in love with Robinson after his 36 point performance. Thin, but skilled, Robinson has typical shooting guard size with a good enough stroke to match. A decent athlete, who’s athleticism should get better as he gets stronger, Robinson can make plays with the ball in his hands which should allow him to be an asset in UNC’s open court style.
