The University of Kentucky just won a National Championship, but Louisville Cardinal fans got a chance to watch one of their new recruits play a solid game and walk away with MVP honors this past weekend at the 2012 Derby Classic. The game was held at the old Cardinal stomping grounds, Freedom Hall in front of a crowd of 6,700.
The White team defeated the Black team in a high scoring battle by the tune of 130-127. Uncommitted senior Amile Jefferson was crowned MVP for the Black team by pumping in 27 points and 5 rebounds. Jefferson is one of the most highly sought after recruits left available in the class and says he will choose from NC St., Kentucky, Duke, Ohio St., and Villanova. Terry Rozier, a Louisville signee was named MVP for the White team after he scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in front of his soon to be home crowd. NC St. signee and McDonald's All American TJ Warren lead all scorers with 27 points.
