Camp Director Dinos Trigonis had a solid group of the Midwest's top young talent looking for an opportunity to become one of the chosen. Here are few names that caught my eye.

Eye Catchers

Kevin Looney 6-7 Foward 2014 Milwaukee, WI Hamilton-Looney is the top prospect in Merrillville, IN. He is a multi-positional, lengthy, and talented athlete. He brings a solid handle that advances him to the basket with ease. Kevin also is developing a nice touch from 15ft and out. He’s a solid rebounder with an unselfish mentality.

Josh Meier 6-7 Power Foward 2014 Oak Lawn, IL Richards-Josh came in on Sunday and his presence was felt immediately. He is a rugged, face up 4-man with a nice touch from 15 ft. He enjoys attacking the offensive glass which leads to a lot of second chance opportunities. Josh has the ability to play the small forward position when he improves his ball handling.

Casey Schlatter 6-7 Foward 2014 Iowa Falls, IA Iowa Falls-Alden-Casey is a face up combo forward with endless length. He has the ability to stretch the defense with his stroke from 15ft and beyond. He also has a solid handle that allows him to finish at the rim. Casey is a solid prospect that must improve his upper body strength.

Tyler Wideman 6-7 Power Foward 2014 St. John, IN Lake Central-Wideman is a physically gifted back to the basket power forward, who loves to rebound. He has a solid ambidextrous hook shot and keen awareness that allows him to make precise outlet passes for easy finishes.  Development is key for Tyler to maintain his dominance in the game.

Sam Longwood 6-6 Forward 2014 Indianapolis, IN Lawrence North-This 2014 class has a depth of talent and Mr. Logwood is staking his claim in stride.  Sam is a small forward with the ability to knock down mid-range shots as well as the ability to attack the basket with above the rim finishes.  Logwood doesn’t mind putting in work on the glass.  To sum Logwood up he is a blue collar worker who doesn’t mind overtime.

David Burrell 6-6 Foward 2014 Milwaukee, WI Hamilton-An extreme, active, and athletic wing that attacks the basket with purpose. Burrell has a solid off the bounce mid to beyond shot that keeps the defender honest. What I love most about his game is how he rebounds to start breaks that lead to easy finishes.

Nate Gehring C 6-10 Center 2014 Waukee, IA High-This long athletic big that runs the floor extremely well. Nate brings length and great shot blocking to the game. He also displays a jump hook and a decent shot from 12ft.  His size and athletic build qualifies him as a raw big to keep an eye on.

Trevon Bluiett 6-4 G/F 2014 Indianapolis, IN Park Tudor-Trevon is a throwback player who competes to win.  Bluiett is a jack of all trades.  He utilizes his ability to shoot the ball with range along with a solid enough handle to create space to get to the rim for a strong finish through contact.  What’s most impressive about his game is the way he rebound’s the ball.

Justin King 6-5 Foward 2014 Gary, IN Bowman Academy-Athletic, aggressive wing, with a nose, for the ball.  He enjoys attacking the rim with desire to obtain a finish or a free-throw line opportunity. He also has a solid mid-shot that needs a little maintenance.

P.J. Thompson 5-9 PG 2014 Indianapolis, IN Brebeuf Prep-An IQ orientated PG who is always looking for the best option for easy scores. Thompson has a great mid to beyond shot to keep defenses off balance. P.J. is solid floor general that displays leadership qualities.

Lamont Walker 6-4 2014 Chicago, IL Morgan Park-Walker is a skilled wing with ability to shoot the ball with range. He utilizes his ball skills to get to the rim for scoring opportunities. Walker is a promising prospect I would like to learn more about so stay tuned.

Torrence Johnson 6-3 2014 Chicago, IL Morgan Park-This wing guard has a lot tools to go with his length. He displayed a solid handle to create for other as well as a nice touch from mid. He is a solid defender who has the ability to rebound.

Jalen Coleman 6-2 2015 Indianapolis, IN Cathedral-An active competitive combo guard who competes on a high level. He has an accurate mid with range shot that frees him to attack the basket with athletic finishes. Jalen is also a competitive defender who takes on all challenges.

Charles Matthews 6-4 G/F 2015 Chicago, IL St. Rita-Charles is a long gangly athletic guard forward that competes on both ends of the floor well. All weekend long he demonstrated consistency either displaying athletic finishes at the rim ambidextrously or simply knocking down his 15 footers of the bounce. Once his frame matures he will have a chance to turn some heads.

Romeo Bouie 6-4 G/F 2015 Racine, WI Horlick-Bouie has a nice solid mid range shot. When Bouie wasn’t pulling up jumpers, he was displaying his athletic frame with finishes at the rim. With a developing handle he is one to monitor hailing from the cheese state.

Dreshawn Haywood Shooting Guard 6-4 2015 Chicago, IL Morgan Park-Dreshawn is a wing talent with a tremendous upside. His length is infinity; he enjoys dribble drives at the rim that leads to athletic finales.  He also has a nice touch from 15ft. a solid prospect to watch in the Chicago land area.
