Over the years AAU has gotten a bad reputation for several reasons. One of the reasons including AAU programs having too much control over their players. Courtcred wanted to show some of the sacrifices the coaches and the players make to help these kids reach their goals. “Climbing the Ranks” captures a different element of AAU Grass Roots Basketball; Everything from adversity, the preparation, and the reason behind some of the decisions made on and off the court.

This episode features the New Heights 17U’ AAU Team based out of New York City. Throughout the years New Heights has emerged as one of the top AAU programs in the country. In this piece Courtcred interviewed different individuals from New Heights but highlighted Coach Rahme Anderson and Student Athlete Sid Wilson. Coach Anderson talks about the influence of New Heights on the kids in their program. He also discusses his experiences transitioning from a grass roots Coach to one of the Athletic Directors for the program. Sid Wilson is one of the emerging Stars on the grass roots basketball scene. Sid is a coach’s dream, an Honor Roll student who is receiving several offers from high D1 schools. We talked about many topics including the hardship of having to deal with the sudden passing of his Mother to the reason why he decided to transfer from St. Raymond’s (One of the Hottest High School teams in NYC) to Prep School Power House Brewster Academy.

Sid Wilson lead his Brewster Academy team to a perfect 30-0 record during the 2016-17 regular season!
