You couldn’t ask for a better semifinals game. With Gonzaga being one of DC’s best schools, you knew it was going to be a showdown. HD Woodson is no slouch either, they’re undefeated and looked to remain perfect as they took on one of the fastest players in the country, WCAC Player of the Year: Chris Lykes.

In a game that appeared to favor Gonzaga, HD Woodson would step on the gas and never let up. Sophomore Kiyon Boyd would prove to be big as he forced the second overtime on a put-back with eight seconds to go. He would then ice the game at the free throw line. Boyd would drop a game high 38 points and lead his team to victory and remain undefeated. They’re looking to become the first public city school team since 1985 to have a perfect season.

Chris Lykes would have 30 points in the loss while Nigel Stewart chipped in with 25.
