Alterique Gilbert heroic performance keeps Miller Grove alive

Yesterday Greater Altanta Christian played host to the 2013 GAC Showcase presented by Blue Collar Basketball.  You always save the best for last and that was the case last night when fans waited to the the final game of the day between 5-time state champions Miller Grove and St. Francis.  Both teams feature several D-1 prospects but the key match-up was between sophomore guards Kobi Simmons(St. Francis) and Alterique Gilbert(Miller Grove).  This game was close all the way and suprisingly St. Francis led for the most part of the game until Miller Grove's Gilbert turned his game up another notch.  Within under a minute left, Gilbert hit a clutch three to pull his team within 1 point which was the closest they had been all game.  The Panthers then forced a St. Francis turnover off a inbounds pass that missed the hands of Kobi Simmons.  Gilbert was given the ball with 12.4 seconds left on the clock and he scored the game winning layup off an isolation play to give Miller Grove a 63-62 win over St. Francis.
