WCAC Showdown: Dematha vs Paul VI
While the Basketball Academy was going on in Baltimore this past weekend, Paul VI had an epic Friday night battle with Dematha. By epic I mean just that; those who were in attendance witnessed George Mason signee Patrick Holloway sink a 3 pointer to seal the game with 0.2 seconds left. This makes the second loss in a two weeks span that Dematha has suffered either at the buzzer or within the last few minutes of the game; the first being at the hand of Gonzaga. Patrick Holloway finished with 20 points and got a big help from junior swingman Stan Robinson (19). Pay close attention to the video as the ball is swung to Holloway. Holloway is known throughout the DMV as such a sharpshooter that very seldom will defenders leave him alone willingly. The video shows his teammate jump for joy as if he knows the bucket is good as soon as it leaves Holloways fingertips. With a reputation known to knock down big shots from anywhere on the court, I would jump for joy as any shot leaves his hands or cringe if I'm the opposite team. Dematha will have a chance to revenge this loss on February 19th on their court. Welcome to the WCAC conference of Washington, DC folks!
