Tennessee gets Jarnell Stokes

Yesterday evening around 7:30PM the head coach of Tennessee Cuonzo Martin opened one of his Christmas gifts early and boy was it a great gift, five-star big man Jarnell Stokes.  Stokes is a 6'8" power forward from Memphis, TN who is probably the best low post scorer in the nation.  He chose the Volunteers over Memphis, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Florida.

After being ruled ineligible because of his transfer from Memphis Central High School to Southwind High School, Tennessee will get a chance to see Stokes on campus sooner than later because of an early graduation.  He is expected to enroll in college for the start of the second semester.

Stokes told ESPN:

"I have spent a lot of time in prayer about what to do and I believe that the University of Tennessee is the right place for me," Stokes said. "I am excited about the future at Tennessee. I am going to work as hard as I can to fit in with my teammates and learn the system as quickly as I can to help the team."
