San Diego State Lands Top 50 Recruit
Even though San Diego State made it to the Sweet 16 last year, was ranked in the Top 10, and recorded 34 wins which is the most in school history last season, basketball fans still question who the Aztecs are. The school even has a legendary basketball coach in Steve Fisher whose claim to fame was putting together the "FAB 5". Yesterday, the Aztecs received probably their biggest recruit in school history when Findlay Prep forward Winston Shepard gave a verbal commitment.
Shepard is a extremely versatile wing that can play and defend all three perimter positions. One of the things I love about Shepard is that he is willing to wear multiple hats as a player. If you need him to be a lockdown defender he will, if you need him to run the point he will, and if you need him to score he will.
From the looks of things Shepard will be one of many big time recruits to pledge the allegiance to the Aztecs because new assistant coach Tony Bland is one of the best up and coming recruiters out there. According to multiple sources, the ultra athletic swingman Anthony January is strongly considering SDSU after decommiting from UTEP.
With an incoming class of Winston Shepard, Matt Shrigley, Skylar Spencer, and possibly Anthony January, the Aztecs should be dancing in March for a while.
