Fresh Crop of Young Talent in New Jersey
Over the years the state of New Jersey has been producing some of the top talent in the country. The past three years alone New Jersey has had a player ranked in the top 5 of their class (Kyrie Irving '10, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist '11, and Kyle Anderson '12) . The annual Hoopgroup Tip-off showcase gave us a glimpse of the bright future New Jersey has in the High School Basketball Class of 2013 & 2015.
Class of 2013
Kavon Stewart, Hudson Catholic: All though he saw limited action because of foul trouble, Stewart did display his uncanny ability to create shots for himself and teammates.
Tyler Ennis, St. Benedict's : Ennis has a smooth midrange game, he is deceptively athletic and will dunk on a defender if giving the opportunity.
Tyler Roberson of Roselle Catholic did not play this weekend but he is ranked in the ESPN super60 and his game has drawn comparisons to Grant Hill.
Class of 2015
Karl Towns, St. Joseph: Towns is a legit 6'10 and is skilled. Towns is a threat inside and out. He has the ability to take slower defenders off the dribble and has range that extends to the 3-point line.
Isaiah Bricsoe, St. Benedict's: Bricoe is scoring guard with a strong body. He is crafty around the rim and has a nice looking jumper. He only scored 5 points in his game versus Roselle Catholic but he converted on those shots effortlessly.
Malachi Richardson (featured photo), Trenton Catholic Academy: Richardson plays with confidence and is not a afraid to take the big shot. He scored 8 straight points for his team during a stretch in his game versus St. Anthony's. Richardson's potential is through the roof and he should receive offers soon after the performance he put on versus St. Anthony.
