Amir Garrett is eligible

Steve Lavin has seen his share of ups and downs with his 2011 recruiting class.  He probably saw more downs than anything but one of his top recruits is now eligible.  6'6" wingman Amir Garrett is now ready to suit up for the Red Storm after spending the fall semester at Bridgton Academy to get his grades up.

Garrett told ESPN:

"The fans have been supportive, they’ve been telling me to keep my head up," said Garrett. "That’s what kept me going, kept me motivated. Coach Lavin and the whole coaching staff has been supportive, they told me to keep my head up, not to give up, and I just kept the faith since day one. I just kept going forward to reach my goal to get [to St. John’s] and now I'm here so that's all that matters."

With the addition of Garrett, the Red Storm get an athletic wing who is a good perimeter defender and also score well in transition.
